Spotlight On: The Atlanta BeltLine

Spotlight On: The Atlanta BeltLine

One of the largest green spaces in the Intown perimeter (ITP), the Atlanta BeltLine trail is one of the most significant redevelopment projects in the United States. The 22-mile loop was originally a railroad corridor and now stands as a fantastic connection between 45 Intown neighborhoods. Utilizing the trail and its accompanying features is a terrific way to explore the growing ITP area while taking in the sights and sounds of the expanding city.

Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. (ABI)

It’s difficult to discuss the benefits of the Atlanta BeltLine without mentioning the incredible work of the ABI and the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership. The nonprofit organization supports the ABI mission by fostering and utilizing connections with local organizations, corporations and individuals to provide affordable housing, support local businesses and more.

The organizational efforts to expand the current 22-mile loop will connect even more residents to Atlanta’s growing neighborhoods. Visit https://BeltLine.org to stay updated on affordable housing initiatives and trail expansion efforts.

Atlanta Art

Every year, the green space searches for exceptional local artists to feature on the BeltLine trails. Art on the Atlanta BeltLine has been a highly anticipated celebration of local artistry for over 13 years and caters to various mediums, including murals, live performances and more.

Interested in exploring the art on the Atlanta BeltLine? BeltLine After Dark is an annual event that showcases live music, ballet and opera, interactive roving performances and theatre.  Another beloved tradition, the Atlanta BeltLine Lantern Parade draws crowds of over 70,000 visitors, providing a festive and interactive way to explore Atlanta’s top outdoor attraction.

While exploring the growing trails, don’t forget to keep an eye out for this year’s sculpture and mural installations featured along the trail before they change to introduce the new year’s lineup.

A great place to walk, bike or jog, the reimagined corridor regularly caters to thousands of residents looking to explore the city while enjoying the temperate Georgia seasons.

Fans of fitness can explore the growing trail options by taking advantage of ABI fitness programs, including bike tours, free fitness classes, walking tours, a Thursday night run club program and the Atlanta BeltLine Race series.
