Traton Homes Celebrates 50 Years of Building Atlanta Homes

When it comes to offering Atlanta area home buyers ‘Altogether More,’ Marietta-based Traton Homes delivers. And they’ve been delivering for 50 years.

In 2021, the family-owned home builder is celebrating 50 years since its founding by the Poston family in 1971. During that time, the company has focused on offering thoughtfully designed homes and communities that provide exceptional appeal and enduring value.

The strategy has worked. Traton was voted Best Builder in Cobb County in 2019 by Cobb Life Magazine and is a seven-time winner of the Guildmaster Award for Customer Service Excellence. In addition, Traton has won more than 50 OBIE Awards for homebuilding excellence from the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association. The accolades join many others accrued since the company’s inception.

“We are grateful that home buyers over the past five decades have – over and over again – put their trust in Traton Homes to deliver more in terms of home design, quality construction and lifestyle,” said Chief Operating Officer Chris Poston. “It’s our honor to have played a role in helping thousands of families find the home of their dreams, and we look forward to helping thousands more as we move forward.”

To mark their 50th anniversary, Traton Homes is making a donation to HomeAid Atlanta for every home they close this year. The nonprofit organization builds new lives for families and individuals experiencing homelessness, supported by donations of services and materials from members of the homebuilding industry.

“HomeAid Atlanta is also celebrating an anniversary this year – its 20th. Since Traton is a long-time supporter, we look forward to celebrating with them and helping extend their services further with our donations,” said Traton Executive Vice President Clif Poston, a past HomeAid Atlanta board member.

Chris and Clif Poston are the sons of co-founder Bill Poston and nephews of co-founder Milburn Poston. They manage the family business with the work ethic inspired by their grandmother Nellie Clifford Poston, who continued working in Traton’s offices daily well into her 90s.

That work ethic is behind the company’s mission to deliver ‘Altogether More.” The phrase represents a commitment to offer home buyers more impressive architecture, more outstanding features, and more rewarding lifestyles in more desirable locations. And with 50 years, thousands of homes, and hundreds of communities under their belt, it’s clear Traton Homes offers more experience, too.

“After working with Traton Homes and the Poston family, I can attest to their commitment both to their home buyers and the greater community,” said Amy Kessler, Traton Homes Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “When the Postons say ‘Altogether More,’ they’re saying they go above and beyond to create the homes and lifestyles that home buyers want and that meet a need in the larger community landscape. From planning and infrastructure all the way through the finishing touches on an individual home, they’re seeking – and finding – excellence in everything they do.”

The Poston work ethic also led the company to success in 2020, even as they navigated the COVID-19 crisis. The company sold 244 homes in 2020, compared to 112 in 2019. The growth is a testament to their ability to pivot in such an uncertain time. They were able to make buyers comfortable on their own terms, whether they chose virtual home tours or socially distanced in-person visits where enhanced cleaning techniques were applied.

Additional 2020 successes include the close-out of two townhome communities near downtown Marietta: 31 homes in Grammercy Park were sold within seven months, and 38 homes in Mangêt were sold within 12 months. In 2020, Traton also neared closeout of the 1825 Stilesboro 55-plus community in Marietta and prepared for the early 2021 opening of two new 55-plus communities, Kirk Ridge in Marietta and Courtyards at Ebenezer in East Cobb.

Also, in 2020, Traton again supported the community with their 17th annual “Stuff-A-Bus” toy drive for Cobb Christmas, an all-volunteer organization that offers Christmas aid to low-income working families who do not receive holiday assistance from any other source.

Traton Homes is currently building in seven Cobb County communities, with prices ranging from the high $200,000s through the $500,000s. The company plans to open several new communities this year. Buyers choose from among full-featured townhomes, single-family detached homes, and 55-plus homes. No matter the home type, Traton builds in convenient locations and with amenities carefully selected for each community’s lifestyle.
